Massage / Massage Therapy
I believe that touching is a gift. The intuitive knowing of how to touch is something that is born with us. Very much like an ear for music. If you are born with a "good ear" for music, you can train your voice and become a good singer. If you are not, chances are slim that you will be able to emit finely tuned singing. Likewise, if you are born with "the gift of touch" you can receive
training and become a good massage therapist. If you are not, chances are slim that you will be able to give a massage that is beyond purely mechanical.
One of the reasons that I studied massage is because whenever I put my hands on anyone, to help them feel better, I always received very positive feedback. I eventually realized that I had an inherent gift for touching people.
I studied massage in a school called Educating-Hands in downtown Miami in 1991. I chose this school because of it's spiritual approach to massage. Their teachings included not only the physical aspects of the person/client, but also the emotional and spiritual aspects as well. This approach was in alignment with my own beliefs and
philosophy. From that point on my greatest teachers, in massage, have been my clients and their particular needs. It's only through doing, that we
acquire experience, practice and eventual mastery.
My techniques include: deep Swedish, deep tissue, trager-like work and what I call, energy-work.
